Course Overview

The OFT21-504A, OFT21-504G + OFT21-504D package at Vulcana Training provides comprehensive training in heat pump installation and design. You will gain the skills to install air and ground source systems, calculate system loads, and meet all necessary MCS and building regulation requirements.

This all-in-one course is ideal for professionals offering a complete renewable heating solution from design through to handover.

Course Modules / Elements:

  • Full training in ASHP and GSHP technologies

  • System sizing, emitter selection and control strategy

  • Hydraulic layout, buffer vessels, and zoning

  • Commissioning, servicing and ongoing maintenance

  • MCS compliance and customer documentation

Refresher training is delivered before final assessments.

Optional Add-on Modules:

  • Solid Fuel Courses – Wet, Dry or Combined, for hybrid heating options

  • OFTEC 50 – For oil-to-renewable transition in rural properties

Initial Assessment Prerequisites

This course is classed as an initial assessment. Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Hold a recognised qualification or trade registration in heating or plumbing for at least two years, and

  • Hold current WRAS and UVHW certificates

Or

  • Have a minimum of two years’ experience in heating installation or maintenance, and

  • Hold valid WRAS and UVHW certificates

Any missing certificates can be added for £150 + VAT each, with one additional training day per module.

Reassessment Prerequisites

Not applicable.
This course is intended for initial training only. There is no reassessment route for the OFT21-504 heat pump modules.

Yes, training manuals and certificates are included in the course fees, except for OFTEC reassessment course training material, where are charged separately.

Any required study materials will be provided on the first day of your course. However, if you prefer to collect them in advance, you can do so by making prior arrangements with us.

With a 99.9% pass rate, it’s unlikely—but if you don’t pass, we’ll discuss your options, including reassessment and additional training if needed.

  • Your current qualifications
  • If you are sitting an initial assessment, please check the initial assessment prerequisite section for specific requirements
  • If you are sitting a reassessment, please bring a copy of your current or recently expired certificate
